Just call me Martha...

Though I desperately want it to, craftiness does not comes naturally for me. My favorite store is Hobby Lobby, but I often just wander around in there thinking that there are probably lots of fun things for me there, if I only knew what to do with them.

So this weekend, I bought myself a sewing machine and headed to visit my mother-in-law in Orange. I believe that God knew what He was doing when he let me marry the son of a Home-Ec (now known as Life Skills) teacher!

Now, I have never used a sewing machine in my life, but she got me all set up and showed me how to use everything. I didn't even have any idea which one to buy, but this one was featured on Martha Stewart, so I figured if it was good enough for Martha, it was good enough for me!
She took me shopping and we bought all of the  necessary tools. I even got this cute little kit- how official do I look now? Then, she taught me how to make throw pillows! I was so excited and proud of myself for making them all by myself! (Under her direct supervision and instruction, don't get me wrong!)
Look what I made:
I had purchased two patterns that I could not choose between, but was so excited that I couldn't stop. I kept making them until all of my material was gone and ended up with 8 pillows.
I am so excited about my new craft and can't wait to get started on another project!

If you are off from work sometime and want to get crafty with your sewing machine, give me a call. I too recently purchased a sewing/embroidery machine and love it. There are so many ideas and patterns out on the internet that could keep you up all night sewing. I think I might try making felt play food for Madison next.

I have a sewing machine - could you show me how to make the pillows? Or better yet - show us steps on the blog!?

I got a sewing machine for my 30th birthday, and I've been addicted!
But, I must admit---your handy-work looks a lot better than mine!
