Ike Update

Thank you to all of you that have called, emailed, and commented about your desire to help Rusty's parents. We have been overwhelmed with the generosity of our friends and the concern that everyone has expressed.
Because of some crazy rules by FEMA, they were told last week that they might not even be allowed to rebuild. Instead, they would have to level the house and start over, building the house to FEMA standards. They found out today that it looks like they are going to be allowed to rebuild the existing house, but we are still waiting for the official word from the inspector. This is a huge blessing, since it will cost a lot more to build an entire house than to rebuild the existing frame.
They also found out that someone is going to loan them a 38 foot trailer for 3 months while they work on the house! Another huge blessing, as you can imagine that the pop-up camper (that leaks, by the way) is starting to get a little bit crowded! This new one will have a bathroom and a little kitchenette for them. Certainly not the Four Seasons, but better than what they had.

Their new home:
Many of you have asked for specific needs and all I can say is that they honestly need just about anything that you can think of. And, if they can't use it, there are thousands more in that town that could. We were thinking of loading a trailer and taking everything over there and whatever they can't use, we will offer to others. After the last post, several people told us, "We just gave away a king mattress, or washer and dryer." We just want to put the word out about their (and all of their neighbors!) need so that those items can go to them, if any of you have anything.
We also covet your prayers. We realize that so much of this is out of our hands, but that God is still in control.

Jenni,
Thanks for all of your wonderful posts. I love that you said there are so many others who need help so just about anything can be used. I am particularly concerned about the Broussard family on our street. He is the principal at the elementary school that had the most damage in Bridge City and his daughter, Taryn, has cancer. They lost everything, too, and had no flood insurance. Kent and Susan have two children - Ty and Taryn -so I ask that you please add this precious family to your prayer list.
