Although we had heard about the damage in Rusty's hometown, we were not able to grasp the reality of it until we experienced it first hand. Pictures do not do justice to the devastation. House after house has their yard full of all of their possessions, waiting to be picked up by the garbage truck. Here is one of some fish that got caught in a fence. It is hard to imagine that the water was high enough for the fish to get caught in a 5 foot fence! These are some pictures from Rusty's parents house. They had almost 4 feet of water throughout their entire house and they lost almost everything. This house has been in their family for over 50 years and it has never flooded, so they could not have anticipated the destruction of Ike. They put some things up high before they left, but even the furniture floated and things fell into the water. They lost all of their furniture, air conditioner, washer and dryer, along with many pictures, bibles, and precious memories.

Over the next few weeks and months, if any of you have any furniture or household items that you are willing to part with, please keep them in mind. They have very limited flood insurance coverage and are in need of basically everything.
The Woolleys are always giving anything that they can and serving others in any way possible. I know that this must be difficult to be the ones that need the help. But, we want to be there for them and do whatever we can to get them back to a sense of normalcy.
If you have anything that might be of help to them, please email me at holland513@hotmail.com

Ooohhh Jen, these pictures hurt my heart. How devastating. They are in my prayers and so are you and Rusty.
Wow.....these pics are unbelievable. I am SO sorry and sad to see what happened to them. How heartbraking. They will be in my prayers....
It is hard to imagine what it would be like to lose everything. We'll be praying for Rusty's parents as they recover from this disaster.
Holy cow! These pictures break my heart.
Please tell Rusty's parents that I am praying for them. Your mother-in-law has been so faithful to pray for me and encourage me in my trying times, and please let her know that I am committted to do the same for her.
Hugs,
Erica
Jen - can you make a blog of specific items they need? Also the timing of these items? For example, we have a coffee table, etc, but since they are in a trailer they may not want it until 2 months from now.
Can you provide specifics so we can all help out?
