How we ended up with the tree...

Rusty and I agree on a lot of things, but Christmas trees are not one of them. I like them to be real, big and very fat. Kind of like the Griswold's... "Looks good, little big, lotta sap."
Rusty likes the scrawny, tall, sparse "Charlie Brown" kind of trees.

Our first christmas together in 2004, I gave in a little bit, but I pretty much won. We ended up with this tree which was pretty full, but still a little bit on the scrawny side.
We decided that if we were going to be married, we would just have to alternate every year. I must have gotten my way the in 2005, because this is what we ended up with when Rusty got to pick in 2006:
He absolutely loved this tree! In his eyes, it was perfect!

When we moved into the new house and Rusty saw that we had the two story living room, he was determined to have the biggest tree possible. Since it would be silly to pay for a real 12-15 foot tree every year, we decided on a fake one. It's still pretty full, but definitely tall and not as round as I might choose.
So that is how we compromised and ended up choosing this tree. And no Robert, we did NOT steal it from the galleria ice rink! :)

And I just have to add that though I am still wanting to boycott Christmas, this is really helping me get into the spirit.

How fun to have such a big tree. Marriage and compromise--we were just talking about that earlier this evening. It has taken me some time to get into the spirit of things this year too, but I think I'm gonna make it. Hang in there girlie!

I have many things to say about this.

1. I'm really glad you got a tree
2. I'm really glad you got a tree that doesn't look like it is in depression.
3. I love your home. Seriously. If you ever need housesitters, WE WILL DO IT FOR FREE. :)
4. I hope you're staying busy and occupied while Rusty is working his rear off.
5. The pics of Rusty putting the top on top of the tree was cracking us up. Grant was very impressed.
6. Love you :) Merry Christmas

Your house looks awesome and love the snow. On another note, did Rusty really think that tree looked good? What kind of trees did he have growing up?
